What to wear, what to wear...

Now that I'm more often a wedding guest than a bridesmaid, I have a bit of conundrum... what to wear!! When you're a bridesmaid, the biggest decision you need to make is what kind of bra to wear, or how you'll style your hair. When you're a guest... you need to figure out the whole kit and kaboodle!

That's where you come in. Help me narrow down which dresses I should try on/buy for the wedding I have coming up in a few weeks.

DRESS ONE: I really like the color of this Eliza J Rosette dress (I'm a fan of bright dresses at weddings... black is for funerals!), and the full skirt is perfect to camouflage my full ass right now.
DRESS TWO: And, just when I say I like bright dresses, this JS Boutique Pleated Shantung dress in steel strikes my fancy. (It does come in blue and purple too.) Bonus? It has POCKETS!!
DRESS THREE: Aaaaand, I'm back to color. This dark purple Maggy London Keyhole Chiffon dress is cute... though I feel like I have a couple of dresses that already look like this. But, I know this brand fits me (and my checkbook) well.
DRESS FOUR: Here's another Maggy London number, this time a Metallic Bubble dress. Something about this screams very 50's housewife to me... but it also looks way fun, no? Also? Yes, pockets. :)
DRESS FIVE: And, lastly, this Ted Baker Georgette & Stretch Cotton dress has caught my eye a number of times when I've been trolling for dresses over the past few weeks. It's purple. It's the right shape for my body. It has pockets. And it's currently on sale.
So what do you think? I may still keep looking, but at least you can help me narrow down my choices to this point. Comment away!!

P.S. If you're turbo and want to see more pics of each dress, they can all be found here.

I love the idea of bright dresses, so that first one really stuck out, but my favorite is definitely the Maggy London Keyhole Chiffon. And that color is gorgeous!

I have a wedding in October (one of the first of my friends--we started late!), and while I'm in the wedding and don't have to freak about what I'm wearing that night, I'm panicked about all the showers and parties and the rehearsal dinner.

dress three. that triangle/tar shaped space of flesh does a lot more in its minimalism than a lot of other outfits.

I know cuz i'm a dude and I stare at women a lot.

I like the first and last ones best. Bright is awesome. Don't get the bubble dress. My mom used to put me in bubble dresses when I was little, and I'm horrified to see them as a popular style on bridesmaids over the last year or so.

The second one is really nice, too.

OK... so the consensus is that there's no consensus! Great. This isn't helping! ;)

I can't really articulate reasons, but I have a strong revulsion to #4 (It reminds me of the foil wrapper in a thing of lifesavers) and don't particularly love #3 or #5.

I'm always a bit partial to whatever you'd call the color of #1, and #2 looks great... but I guess it all depends on how the woman looks in the dress, or more importantly how she feels in the dress...

Since I have no idea what you look like, much less how you feel...presuming you've actually tried them on...which do you feel the best in?

Lincoln -- I haven't tried any of them on yet. Need to figure out which ones to order to try on. :)

First of all, you would look DARLING in any one of these... No question. But If I had to pick one... I kinda have a thing for #4... so Mad Men... and it has pockets? Sold.

No. 2 looks short on the model - I know that may not be problem for your 5'2" stature, but compared to all of the other dresses, that's what I noticed first.

My dress preference in order: 1, 3, 5, 4, and 2.

Dresses one & four are my favorite. I ADORE dress four... and may buy it for myself...

since i know you IRL, I think #1 would look fab on you! and the color.....well let's face it, you look amaze-balls in shades of blue/turquoise!! just sayin....

I am a fan of dress #2 and #5.

The color of #2 is amazeballs and it would fo sure look hot on you.

Dress #5 should be on your short short list because if you've been eyeing it for a while...you know you want it...so just get it!

So just get both.

They are all so cute!!! I like the first and last. So many cute dresses, so little time!

And more importantly...are you going with a date??? ;)

I just read the comments and can't believe more people aren't totally into DRESS 4. I'm serious. GET IT. I haven't liked a dress this much in a long time.

I'm gonna go with the 5th one. I feel like you wouldn't get sick of it after wearing it...coming from a girl that hates wearing the same dress twice.

So after counting everyone's votes (and the top two for anyone who picked more than one), it looks like dress 1 is in the lead, followed closely by dress 5. And there's a lot of campaigning for dress 4 as well.

Looks like I may have to order all three and see what they look like on.

Stay tuned! (Or cast your vote if you haven't yet!)

Are you being an Nordstrom snob? Don't leave out Anthropologie! I get all my wedding guest dresses there. These seem to match what you're going for:

Totes dress #1.

dress 4. or dress 1. but get 4 so sissy2 can have dibs.

dress 5 reminds me of an iceskater's costume...the ones they wear in practice, just with a longer skirt.

that I'm the only one voting for dress number 3 may confirm it's the best choice by demographic appeal alone.

PS If you gotta spend cash, get the silvery number..4

DEFINITELY between the last 2 dresses. However, I am leaning towards the last dress because the one before it really screams holiday. BUT you could wear that dress for the wedding and then again over the holidays. The purple dress looks very summery. I would go with Dress #4 - and that is my final answer.

Wow, 27 comments on a blog called "27 Dresses..." regarding a post about dresses. (Cue "Twilight Zone" theme.)

I personally like dress # 3, but mostly because I would wear that.
I like bright dresses at wedding too. I'm the bridesmaid phase right now, hoping that all these people go ahead and get married so I can to wear something of my choosing rather than their dress and my bra.
